Photo report: wet start for work at Amsterdam Zuid

The evening of Saturday, 5 August 2023 saw the start of work on the additional passageway at Amsterdam Zuid station. We are doing the work now because the summer is relatively quiet. But for the construction workers, it already feels more like autumn. Our photos below offer an initial impression.

Digging safely in the A10 embankment and the track

The expansion of Amsterdam Zuid station involves an awful lot of digging. This includes in early August 2023, as we begin to insert the roof for the second passenger tunnel: the Brittenpassage. We are taking careful measures to ensure that we can dig safely.

The A10 Zuid is set to close: come and see why

The evening of Saturday, 5 August 2023 marks the start of the closure of the A10 Zuid, in the direction of Utrecht and Hengelo. If you’re interested in finding out about what’s happening, why not come and take a look at the works at Amsterdam Zuid station. You can even take part in one (or more) of the other activities.

S109 access road widened during A10 summer works

During the eight-day closure of the A10 in August 2023, we will be widening the S109 access road, doubling its size. It will be temporarily increased to two carriageways in order to optimise traffic flow. Before that, we will be closing the access road in the night of 5/6 August.

Need travel advice? Consult Ask&Go

Between the evening of Saturday, 5 August and the morning of Monday, 14 August 2023, the closure of the A10 Zuid in the direction of Utrecht and Hengelo will cause major disruption. There will also be fewer trains running. You can consult Ask&Go for travel advice now.

Launch of tender for A10 Zuid tunnel

The tendering process for the construction of a motorway tunnel at the centre of Zuidas has been launched. We are diverting part of the A10 underground in order to extend Amsterdam Zuid station. This is all part of the Zuidasdok project.

Demolition work continues on car park under A10 Zuid

We are currently in the process of partially demolishing the former Atrium car park underneath the A10 Zuid. This work is necessary because this is where the entrance to the additional station passageway – the Brittenpassage – will be. All of the concrete removed will be reused.

Preparatory work on A10 tunnel next to WTC

Starting on 31 July, we will be doing preparatory work for the future A10 tunnel in Matthijs Vermeulenpad. For the safety of passers-by, this often-used route, leading from Beethovenstraat to Zuidplein and the station, will be closed completely.

Are you ready for the eight-day closure of the A10 Zuid?

There’s not long to go now: from the evening of Saturday, 5 August until the morning of Monday, 14 August, the A4 and A10 Zuid will be closed from the Badhoevedorp interchange to the S109 RAI access road. We are certainly ready for it. But is everybody else in Zuidas?

A10 Zuid in the direction of Schiphol closed for two weekends

For two weekends in September 2023, there will be major traffic disruption on the south side of Amsterdam. Between 8 and 11 September and between 22 and 25 September, the A10 Zuid in the direction of Schiphol and The Hague will be closed from the Amstel interchange to the S108 VUmc access road.

Don’t miss the Zuidas Zomer Keet

Starting on 20 July 2023, the Zuidas Zomer Keet (Zuidas Summer Shack) will be back in Gustav Mahlerplein. In it, we’ll tell you all about the summer works at Amsterdam Zuid station, but there’s also much more: guided tours, workshops and tuktuk rides. Make sure you don’t miss it!

Reminder: A4 and A10 Zuid closed for eight days in August 2023

From Saturday, 5 August until the morning of Monday, 14 August, there will be major traffic disruption on the south side of Amsterdam. For an eight-day period, the A4 and A10 Zuid will be closed from the Badhoevedorp interchange to the S109 RAI exit because of work on Amsterdam Zuid station.
