In the picture: The Newton in Kop Zuidas completed

After two years of construction work, this week sees the completion of the 101 energy-efficient apartments in The Newton in Kop Zuidas. Designed by Diederendirrix Architecten, this new complex is not only incredibly impressive from the outside, but also from the inside.

Apartments between 46 and 110 sq. m.

Our last visit to The Newton was in September this year, when the finishing touches were being added to it. The final plant containers (for positioning around the façades) were being hoisted into position while contractor Pleijsier Bouw was completing the finishing work. The letting process has now started for the 101 apartments, which vary in size between 46 and 110 sq. m.

The triangular plinth of the building (ground floor) also has room for commercial accommodation covering 175 sq. m. This will border the still to be completed square called Hogelandplein. On the first floor of the building, a communal roof garden with evergreen plants has been planted. Around the complex, there will be water-retardant green infiltration strips that are capable of collecting large amounts of rainwater in order to protect the sewer in the event of heavy rainfall.

Parties involved

Commissioned by developer COD, The Newton has been designed by Diederendirrix Architecten and its rich brickwork reflects the architectural style of the adjoining Rivierenbuurt. The urban roof garden is the work of Felixx Landscape Architects and Planners.
