- Conversation with Mayor on locations for Erotic Centre On Tuesday, 28 March, the City of Amsterdam invites you to join Mayor Halsema in conversation about the potential locations for an Erotic Centre. Two of these locations are in the Zuid city district. You can also watch on the live stream.
- Light makes all the difference in regenerated Strawinskyhuis The old Strawinskyhuis in Prinses Irenestraat is now virtually unrecognisable. At the heart of what was once a brutalist complex, there now lies a bright and airy atrium. The building is not yet fully complete: work on it is expected to last until the end of the year.
- Beethovenstraat cycle path next to WTC reopens The cycle path in Beethovenstraat that runs along the front of the WTC has been open again since 17 March 2023, to the delight of many people. It had been closed for five years to enable the construction of Tower Ten, the newest WTC tower.
- Kilometres of barriers to reduce noise on A10 Zuid Between the De Nieuwe Meer and Amstel interchanges, the regenerated A10 Zuid will have numerous noise barriers, in a range of different lengths and heights and made from different materials. The choices made are being based on research involving advanced computer modelling.
- New birch, oak and Prunus trees for Amaliaplein The week of 13 March 2023 saw the removal and addition of oak, birch and Prunus trees in Amaliaplein. The high groundwater level has caused the death of eight trees which we are now in the process of replacing. All of the new trees will be planted on Friday, 17 March.
- How do we keep Zuidas accessible and liveable? In the Thomaskerk church on 23 March, 2023, we will be presenting the draft Zuidflank Mobility Plan (‘Mobiliteitsplan Zuidflank’). A webinar will then follow on Monday, 27 March. In the plan, we explain how we intend to ensure that the area in and around Zuidas remains accessible and liveable up to 2040. - Two trees to be replanted to create space for 'Boog' plot In the night of 15-16 March 2023, we will be removing two trees in Parnassusweg close to Claude Debussylaan for replanting elsewhere. The trees need to be moved in order to make way for the construction of a new office building on the so-called 'Boog' plot.
- Public space around Tower Ten almost ready From 13 March until 5 May 2023, we will be completing the work on the public space around WTC Tower Ten. This will include adding an illuminated footpath between Strawinskylaan and Beethovenstraat. In the final week, there will be some traffic disruption.
- Extreme make-over for Philips’ new headquarters All that remains of the brutalist complex at Prinses Irenestraat 59 is its bare carcase. This 1970s building is being thoroughly refurbished before Philips moves into it in 2025. So, how is construction progressing?
