The homebase for the emergency helicopter serving Amsterdam UMC, VUmc location, is moving to the western harbour area on 19 July 2023. The helipad on the roof of the VUmc will be maintained for the time being, but the number of flights will be significantly reduced.
Because the metro viaduct across Parnassusweg is being widened, the carriageway in the direction of Amstelveen will be close to cars and buses between 24 July and 1 October 2023. However, slow traffic can continue to use Parnassusweg during the works.
Starting on 31 July, we will be doing preparatory work for the future A10 tunnel in Matthijs Vermeulenpad. For the safety of passers-by, this often-used route, leading from Beethovenstraat to Zuidplein and the station, will be closed completely.
There’s not long to go now: from the evening of Saturday, 5 August until the morning of Monday, 14 August, the A4 and A10 Zuid will be closed from the Badhoevedorp interchange to the S109 RAI access road. We are certainly ready for it. But is everybody else in Zuidas?
For two weekends in September 2023, there will be major traffic disruption on the south side of Amsterdam. Between 8 and 11 September and between 22 and 25 September, the A10 Zuid in the direction of Schiphol and The Hague will be closed from the Amstel interchange to the S108 VUmc access road.

From Saturday, 5 August until the morning of Monday, 14 August, there will be major traffic disruption on the south side of Amsterdam. For an eight-day period, the A4 and A10 Zuid will be closed from the Badhoevedorp interchange to the S109 RAI exit because of work on Amsterdam Zuid station.
In the last week of June 2023, we had to halt sheet piling work west of Amsterdam Zuid station due to the instability of the metro track. We will complete the work on Saturday 1 July, after which we will repair the track.
On 27 July 2023, Amsterdam City Council and the Dutch House of Representatives were updated on progress on the Zuidasdok project in the second half of 2022. The report provides a valuable insight into the status of the work at the end of 2022.
A lot of construction work is taking place between Amsterdam Zuid station and Prinses Irenestraat. In the upcoming period, there will also be works in and around the station. On 3 July 2023, we are organising a walk-in meeting at the Thomaskerk to update you on what is happening.
Zuidas is much less busy during the summer. But, for us, this is actually a reason to continue working hard, including on the construction of the additional passageway at Amsterdam Zuid station: the Brittenpassage. Here’s an overview of our plans up to October 2023.
During the night of 9-10 June 2023, we moved the first roof section for the existing passageway at Amsterdam Zuid station around 114 m to the east. The huge sheet of concrete is now well and truly in position. We take a look back at the process.
