A glimpse inside low-vibration VU Research Building

The VU Research Building in De Boelelaan was completed in early 2024. It is an extraordinary building and the reason why only really becomes clear when you look inside it. ‘Even the tiniest vibrations and temperature differences can have an effect on measurements.’

Three-day trial for limited access to Minervapassage

On 16, 17 and 18 April 2024, we have closed off one of the two southern access tunnels of the Minervapassage. We are doing this in order to gain an impression of what will happen when the passageway is partially closed for a longer period from mid-2025.

Fertile soil from Ravelgracht to be reused

In the new Ravel residential district, something extraordinary is happening. To the south of the AFC football pitches, we are digging a canal: Ravelgracht. The fertile soil that we are removing is set to be reused in other places in Amsterdam.

Working in the ‘crawlspace’ of the Brittenpassage

The digging of the second passenger tunnel at Amsterdam Zuid station, the Brittenpassage, is now three-quarters of the way towards completion. Concrete trucks are currently in the process of creating a crawlspace. They are also preparing the foundations for the pillars that will support the roof of the passageway.

‘Ceci’, 25 apartments next to Stepstone

Alongside the 216 starter homes in Stepstone, Ceci is being built, a complex of 25 private sector apartments with a minimum size of 70 square metres. There will be commercial amenities on the ground floor. Ceci is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.

Temporary shed for museum tram next to Jachthavenweg

From 2 April until Friday, 28 June, a temporary tram shed is being built for the museum tram next to Jachthavenweg. This is expected to cause some disruption to traffic. Some parking spaces will also be temporarily out of use.

148 affordable homes in The Harmony

In Beethovenstraat, Zadelhoff is developing the complex ‘The Harmony’, with 63 social rental homes and 85 mid-market rental homes. They will be part of the new Ravel residential district that is set to be built between the new AFC football pitches and De Boelelaan.

Study into third railway platform at Amsterdam Zuid

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management has commissioned ProRail to embark on a so-called ‘planning and study phase’ exploring the options for a future third railway platform for Amsterdam Zuid station. The station currently has two platforms. Zuidasdok is working on the assumption that there will be a third platform.

Zuidas and Zuidasdok market brings in the crowds

On 12 March 2024, more than 150 people visited the market in the Zuidas-Zuidasdok Information Centre. Alongside many familiar faces, there were also quite a lot of new ones. People with specific questions and people with a general interest in Zuidas and Zuidasdok.

13 March: meeting about De Nieuwe Meer junction

In 2024, the reconstruction of the De Nieuwe Meer junction is set to start after a long period of preparation. At two walk-in meetings on Wednesday 13 March, we will give you an idea of the works you can expect in the years ahead and the related disruption.

Making space for A10 Zuid widening

At the start of March 2024, we will be removing trees and bushes at three locations around the De Nieuwe Meer junction. This will create space for work sites and access roads for construction. Ultimately, this will also enable the widening of the A10 Zuid. Cyclists will face some temporary disruption.

Zuidas accessibility score declines

The average score for journeys to Zuidas fell in 2023 to 6.9 out of 10, the lowest figure in our survey since 2016. The fact that things have become increasingly busy, partly due to works, is the main cause. This is according to the 2023 Mobility Survey.
