Safer access to emergency department at Amsterdam UMC-VUmc location

From 3 to 5 November 2023, Amstelveenseweg will be closed in the Amstelveen direction between De Boelelaan and Van Nijenrodeweg. We are making changes to the entrance to the emergency department at Amsterdam UMC-VUmc location in order to improve traffic safety.

Central cycle path to Beatrixpark removed for house-building

Starting on 9 October, we will be removing the cycle path that leads from Beethovenstraat, between the Stibbe and AkzoNobel offices, to Beatrixpark. It runs diagonally across the site on which we will be building housing in the years ahead.

Laying of Maurice Ravellaan for new Ravel district

Starting in September 2023, we will spend a year working on the entrance to the new Ravel residential district: Maurice Ravellaan, with space for pedestrians, cyclists and plenty of green areas. We are also digging an actual canal, complete with bridges to the AFC sports fields.

Beethovenstraat cycle path reopens

The cycle path in Beethovenstraat heading in the direction of Valley is again in use. We needed the cycle path in order to carry out work on cables and pipelines and prepare the two plots in the new Ravel residential district for construction. This has now been done.

Zuidas to create space for walking, cycling and public transport

The Sustainably Accessible Zuidflank Mobility Plan ('Mobiliteitsplan Zuidflank Duurzaam Bereikbaar') was approved in July 2023. This future vision of Zuidas and its surroundings envisages more space for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport – and less for cars. ‘We need a change in the way people travel.’

The A10 Zuid is set to close: come and see why

The evening of Saturday, 5 August 2023 marks the start of the closure of the A10 Zuid, in the direction of Utrecht and Hengelo. If you’re interested in finding out about what’s happening, why not come and take a look at the works at Amsterdam Zuid station. You can even take part in one (or more) of the other activities.

Starting on 20 July 2023, the Zuidas Zomer Keet (Zuidas Summer Shack) will be back in Gustav Mahlerplein. In it, we’ll tell you all about the summer works at Amsterdam Zuid station, but there’s also much more: guided tours, workshops and tuktuk rides. Make sure you don’t miss it!

3 July: meeting to discuss works in Prinses Irenebuurt area

A lot of construction work is taking place between Amsterdam Zuid station and Prinses Irenestraat. In the upcoming period, there will also be works in and around the station. On 3 July 2023, we are organising a walk-in meeting at the Thomaskerk to update you on what is happening.

5 to 17 June: works in Prinses Irenestraat

From 5 to 17 June 2023, we are digging test trenches at different locations in Prinses Irenestraat. Our aim is to map out the underground cables and pipelines. Car traffic will be diverted and we expect some noise nuisance.

Construction traffic to access Kapel & Convict via pontoon

Work is currently in progress on Kapel & Convict in Beatrixpark to prepare for the accommodation of 100 Ukrainian refugees at the end of this year. From the 31 May 2023, construction traffic will be able to access the site by means of a pontoon floating in the pond. This will ensure that the busy cycle path remains free.

Construction starts on art bridge across De Boelegracht

Work started on the art bridge across De Boelegracht in May 2023. We started by placing foundations on the south bank (the Buitenveldert side) in preparation for the real work: installing the bridge later this year.
