Work on Kapel & Convict for the temporary housing of refugees
On 18 September 2024, the city council decided that Kapel & Convict, the municipal listed buildings in Beatrixpark, may be used to house refugees from Ukraine for a period of five years.
Park Meadows brings people together
For more than a year now, construction has been underway of the two residential towers that will make up Park Meadows, adjacent to Beatrixpark. Not much is visible so far, but once they are completed, it should feel ‘as if they have always been there’, says architect Ben van Berkel of UNStudio.

The Pulse of Amsterdam exposed
In the Kenniskwartier (Knowledge District), The Pulse of Amsterdam is very rapidly approaching completion. In the weeks ahead, the façade of the residential tower will increasingly reveal itself, as the contractor is hard at work completing the finishing touches inside.
Bridge completed across a half-filled Ravelgracht
In yet another milestone for the future Ravel residential district, the magnificent access bridge to the AFC football pitches has been completed. The canal that we dug underneath it is now half full of water. We are now working on the public space around it.
Zuidas: your knowledge, opinions, responses and expectations
Around 60% of you have a positive opinion about the development of the Zuidas district, the regeneration of Amsterdam Zuid station and the widening and partial tunnelling of the A10 Zuid. This is according to a survey we recently commissioned.
Kindercampus to relocate to Ravel residential district
In the autumn of 2025, the Kindercampus Zuidas education centre will be moving into brand-new accommodation at the heart of the Ravel residential district. The pile-driving for the new building – 100 m to the west of the existing building – has already started.
Closure of emergency department at location VUmc
The emergency department of Amsterdam UMC, location VUmc, will close on 27 May 2024. In the future, patients will instead go to location AMC. VUmc is opening a Specialist Emergency Unit for patients who require the specialisms that VUmc offers.
Green meeting place for Kop Zuidas in the works
The development of the final two plots in Kop Zuidas is set to take quite a while. With residents’ help, we have come up with two design proposals for the temporary landscaping of the area. We presented them at an information evening held on 23 April 2024.
Creation of green border for PI59 rooftop park
On the roof of the PI59 car park, work has started on the green border of the parking deck, which is visible from the street. It will form part of a publicly accessible park that runs through into the adjacent street. An update.
Fertile soil from Ravelgracht to be reused
In the new Ravel residential district, something extraordinary is happening. To the south of the AFC football pitches, we are digging a canal: Ravelgracht. The fertile soil that we are removing is set to be reused in other places in Amsterdam.
