2022 was quite the year – what does 2023 have in store?

Above all else, 2022 was the year when funding for the Zuidasdok project was finalized. But of course, it was also a year when we just kept on building. Many new homes were completed and work continued on the major upgrade at Amsterdam Zuid station. Preparations also began on the renovation of the motorway interchange at De Nieuwe Meer.

Zuidas-Zuidasdok 2022 draft zoning plan open for consultation

The Amsterdam and Ouder-Amstel municipal executives have approved the Zuidas-Zuidasdok 2022 draft zoning plan. The plan incorporates the changes to the original Zuidasdok Routing Decision (‘(Wijzigings)tracébesluit Zuidasdok’) and will make additional noise barriers possible alongside the A10 Zuid.

Two weeks without trains at Amsterdam Zuid put to good use

For two whole weeks, there were no trains running via Amsterdam Zuid station because of works by ProRail. Zuidasdok made good use of this by continuing work on the Schinkelbrug bridge, the Brittenpassage and the Vivaldipassage. Our photographer was on hand to capture it.

17 and 18 December: noise disruption on metro platforms

During the weekend of 17 and 18 December, we will again be inserting box piles into the ground at Amsterdam Zuid station. A total of 20 box piles will be inserted next to the metro platforms. This may cause disruption as a result of vibration and noise.

Zuidasdok Routing Decision changes open for consultation

Several modifications need to be made to the Zuidasdok Routing Decision (‘Tracébesluit Zuidasdok’). From 30 November 2022, the draft amending decision will be open for consultation for a six-week period. During that time, anyone can submit an opinion on it.

TriAX wins tender for De Nieuwe Meer interchange update

In the tender for the work to reconstruct the De Nieuwe Meer interchange, the offer put forward by TriAX has been judged to be the best. This provisional awarding of the project marks the start of the process of widening one of the busiest motorways in the Netherlands, the A10 Zuid.

Fourth roof section of Brittenpassage completed

Et voilà! The fourth roof section for the second passenger tunnel at Amsterdam Zuid station is complete. On our work site next to the A10, there is now a sheet of concrete weighing 3 million kilogrammes that we will be sliding under the railway tracks in 2023.

Green light for Zuidasdok

Amsterdam regional transport (Vervoerregio Amsterdam), Amsterdam and Haarlemmermeer, Noord-Holland, NS (Dutch Railways), KLM and Royal Schiphol Group have reached agreement with central government on improving accessibility in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area. Zuidasdok can now go ahead.

Nothing left to chance with glass roof over the metro platforms

Safety measures have been installed under the distinctive glass roof above the walkway and the entrance to the metro platforms at Amsterdam Zuid. The aim is to minimize the risk of any falling glass as further work is carried out.

Work on Schinkelbrug bridge during two train-free weeks

ProRail will be working on the railway tracks between 13 and 26 November, and it will not be possible to access Amsterdam Zuid station for two weeks. The Zuidasdok project will make use of this train-free period to relocate the control building for the rail and motorway bridges over the Schinkel.

Amsterdam Zuid station: no trains from 13 to 26 November

From 01.00 on Sunday, 13 November until 08.00 on Saturday, 26 November, it will not be possible to reach Amsterdam Zuid station by train. In that period, ProRail is working on the track between Amstelveenseweg and Parnassusweg.

Weekend work between the tracks

In a few years’ time, the metro platforms will be moving to the other side of the Amsterdam Zuid station. To prepare for this, we will be positioning sheet piling between the railway and metro tracks from 5 until 7 November. The metro and railway will run a revised service.
