Amsterdam Zuid station sheet piling works set to continue until summer

At Amsterdam Zuid station, we will be inserting sheet piling and foundation piles into the ground until May 2023. This is to enable the construction of the second passenger tunnel and the renovation of the existing Minervapassage. The work is expected to cause occasional disruption.

Alongside the A10 Zuid, the fourth roof section for the Brittenpassage lies ready and waiting. On Tuesday, 24 January 2023, we will be moving this colossus, weighing 3,000,000 kg, closer to the A10 in order to make space for the construction of the fifth roof section. Et voilà! The fourth roof section for the second passenger tunnel at Amsterdam Zuid station is complete. On our work site next to the A10, there is now a sheet of concrete weighing 3 million kilogrammes that we will be sliding under the railway tracks in 2023.

Weekend work between the tracks

In a few years’ time, the metro platforms will be moving to the other side of the Amsterdam Zuid station. To prepare for this, we will be positioning sheet piling between the railway and metro tracks from 5 until 7 November. The metro and railway will run a revised service.

Work starts on next roof section for additional station tunnel

Construction work has started on a new roof section for the Brittenpassage, the second passenger tunnel for Amsterdam Zuid station. ‘The work site is very small, with a lot of neighbours around it. That makes it quite a challenge’, says Geo van Tintelen.

11 days of work under the A10 Zuid and railway track completed successfully

After an 11-day closure, motorists were once more driving on a fresh layer of asphalt across the A10 Zuid on the morning of Wednesday, 3 August 2022. There is no longer any sign that these major works even happened. A complex job has been completed with pride.

Construction work means southern carriageway of the A10 will be closed for 11 days

Between 22 July and 3 August, the A4 and the southern carriageway of the A10 towards Utrecht will be closed. There will also be fewer trains running during this period. During the 11-day period, we will be working on the foundations for the roof sections of the new Brittenpassage. Continue reading to find out exactly what we will we be doing.

Summer disruption for Zuidas traffic and transport

Starting in mid-July 2022, major works will cause traffic and transport disruption in Zuidas. Metro line 52 will not run to Zuid station for a seven-day period. The A4 and A10 Zuid in the direction of Utrecht will be closed for 11 days. There will be a reduced train service. Below, we provide a summary of three weeks of work during the summer.

All metro switches installed and removable railway platforms replaced

In the weekend of 18 and 19 December 2021, we installed the final two switches in the metro tracks. At the same time, 1,000 sq. m. of floor was replaced from the removable railway platform for tracks 1 and 2. The work went smoothly.

Summer 2022: A10 Zuid closed for 11 days

From 22 July until 3 August 2022, major traffic disruption is expected on the south side of Amsterdam. Throughout these 11 days, the A4 and A10 Zuid will be closed from the Badhoevedorp junction to the S109 RAI access road. This is because of works on Amsterdam Zuid station.

Overnight works on the metro tracks

Until the end of 2021, we are working on the metro tracks from Amsterdam Zuid station to just past RAI. We are adding five switches. This will cause some disruption. The work is required in order to create a larger work site between the metro tracks at Amsterdam Zuid station.
