3 July: meeting to discuss works in Prinses Irenebuurt area

A lot of construction work is taking place between Amsterdam Zuid station and Prinses Irenestraat. In the upcoming period, there will also be works in and around the station. On 3 July 2023, we are organising a walk-in meeting at the Thomaskerk to update you on what is happening.

Conversation with Mayor on locations for Erotic Centre

On Tuesday, 28 March, the City of Amsterdam invites you to join Mayor Halsema in conversation about the potential locations for an Erotic Centre. Two of these locations are in the Zuid city district. You can also watch on the live stream.

Green, sustainable turf walls along the A10 Zuid

At the De Nieuwe Meer interchange, we are experimenting with so-called BioBlocks: compressed waste from plant materials on which new plants can grow. We aim to use them in the future to create green walls on either side of the A10 Zuid.

2022 was quite the year – what does 2023 have in store?

Above all else, 2022 was the year when funding for the Zuidasdok project was finalized. But of course, it was also a year when we just kept on building. Many new homes were completed and work continued on the major upgrade at Amsterdam Zuid station. Preparations also began on the renovation of the motorway interchange at De Nieuwe Meer.

Zuidas-Zuidasdok 2022 draft zoning plan open for consultation

The Amsterdam and Ouder-Amstel municipal executives have approved the Zuidas-Zuidasdok 2022 draft zoning plan. The plan incorporates the changes to the original Zuidasdok Routing Decision (‘(Wijzigings)tracébesluit Zuidasdok’) and will make additional noise barriers possible alongside the A10 Zuid.

Bats protected during work on De Nieuwe Meer interchange

Today sees the start of the official consultation period for the exemption to the Nature Conservation Act for the De Nieuwe Meer interchange. This exemption regulates how to take special measures to protect nature in order to carry out works that would otherwise not be permissible.

Green light for Zuidasdok

Amsterdam regional transport (Vervoerregio Amsterdam), Amsterdam and Haarlemmermeer, Noord-Holland, NS (Dutch Railways), KLM and Royal Schiphol Group have reached agreement with central government on improving accessibility in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area. Zuidasdok can now go ahead.

Dutch Building Day proves hotspot for 1,800 people

It was a hot day. Whether you were on the roof, on the work site next to the A10 or between the railway tracks, or took part in one of the guided tours. But, despite this, there was a lot of interest in Dutch Building Day in Zuidas. Around 1,800 people came to take a look.

18 June: Dutch Building Day in Zuidas

On 18 June 2022, you have an opportunity to see the real Zuidas. During Dutch Building Day, you can gain access to construction sites and we’ll show you around the neighbourhood. Join us in Mahlerplein, right next to Amsterdam Zuid station. It promises to be a fun day out, including for children.

Zuidasdok report on the second half of 2021

Zuidasdok has updated Amsterdam City Council and the Dutch House of Representatives on progress made in the second half of 2021. The renovation of Amsterdam Zuid was given the go-ahead and the tender procedure for tackling the De Nieuwe Meer interchange was initiated.

Dutch parliament and Amsterdam City Council notified of contract for renovation work at Amsterdam Zuid station

On 15 April 2022, the Dutch House of Representatives and Amsterdam city council were notified of an important step in the renovation of Amsterdam Zuid railway station: the awarding of the contract for phase 1 of the station renovation.
