We are building a unique Amsterdam city district, where thousands of people live, work and enjoy recreational activities. That’s our job. We’re doing it on behalf of Amsterdam’s city council. At the same time, we’re cooperating as much as possible with the residents, those living in adjoining areas, companies and institutions, employees and anyone else who feels involved with Zuidas.
Growing numbers of travellers to Zuidas are coming by car, train, bicycle or other forms of transport. This places increasing pressure on accessibility. This pressure will increase in the upcoming years. Construction work on Zuidasdok will cause some inconvenience. In addition, Zuidas will be building new homes and offices in the upcoming years. As a result of all these activities, keeping Zuidas accessible is a major challenge.
We are working to deliver a healthy, clean, compact and energy-neutral Zuidas. This involves cooperation with companies, educational institutions, social organizations and the Zuidas Green Business Club. In this context, we are working in areas such as sustainable energy generation, energy conservation, sustainable mobility, clean air and a circular economy.
Zuidas is evolving into a lively residential area, mainly due to the increasing numbers of people coming to live here. There are a growing number of catering establishments and shops, as well as cultural, sporting and healthcare facilities. All sorts of events – big and small – are being held. Both the residents and the tens of thousands of people who work there and who contribute to the development of Zuidas are helping to make it a place where there are plenty of things to do, and where people can meet one another.
Zuidas is a high-end international knowledge and business centre that is also one of the leading office locations in the Netherlands. Construction and development work will continue throughout the coming years, to keep up with demand for ‘A-quality’ office real estate. The same applies to the construction of homes and amenities. .
Zuidasdok will improve accessibility to Zuidas and to the northern Randstad conurbation. The southern section of the A10 ring motorway will be widened from four to six lanes. It will also run underground where it passes through the heart of Zuidas. Amsterdam Zuid station is being completely renewed. It will soon be a hub for various forms of transport (and public transport). The station area will become a lot greener.
Amsterdam Zuidas is working with various developers and contractors to build a completely new city district. The work involves numerous individual building projects. In its early days, Zuidas was an office location for leading companies. Now we want the area to be much more than that. It will be a full, unique neighbourhood where people can live, work, and enjoy recreational activities. Read all about it.
