Preliminary design for Beatrixpark site now ready

The area between Kapel & Convict and the AkzoNobel and Stibbe buildings and the St. Nicolaaslyceum will be given a new layout in the next few years. The preliminary design for the public area is now ready. It is set to be green and park-like.

Central cycle path to Beatrixpark removed for house-building

Starting on 9 October, we will be removing the cycle path that leads from Beethovenstraat, between the Stibbe and AkzoNobel offices, to Beatrixpark. It runs diagonally across the site on which we will be building housing in the years ahead.

3 July: meeting to discuss works in Prinses Irenebuurt area

A lot of construction work is taking place between Amsterdam Zuid station and Prinses Irenestraat. In the upcoming period, there will also be works in and around the station. On 3 July 2023, we are organising a walk-in meeting at the Thomaskerk to update you on what is happening.

5 to 17 June: works in Prinses Irenestraat

From 5 to 17 June 2023, we are digging test trenches at different locations in Prinses Irenestraat. Our aim is to map out the underground cables and pipelines. Car traffic will be diverted and we expect some noise nuisance.

Construction traffic to access Kapel & Convict via pontoon

Work is currently in progress on Kapel & Convict in Beatrixpark to prepare for the accommodation of 100 Ukrainian refugees at the end of this year. From the 31 May 2023, construction traffic will be able to access the site by means of a pontoon floating in the pond. This will ensure that the busy cycle path remains free.

Minervabrug: bridge closed for three months for repairs

Starting on 3 April, the bridge for cyclists and pedestrians that connects Zuidas with the Zuid city district will be closed for a three-month period. The Minervabrug is in poor condition and will be repaired. Cyclists and pedestrians will be able to cross the Zuider Amstelkanaal in Beethovenstraat.

Beethovenstraat cycle path next to WTC reopens

The cycle path in Beethovenstraat that runs along the front of the WTC has been open again since 17 March 2023, to the delight of many people. It had been closed for five years to enable the construction of Tower Ten, the newest WTC tower.

Public space around Tower Ten almost ready

From 13 March until 5 May 2023, we will be completing the work on the public space around WTC Tower Ten. This will include adding an illuminated footpath between Strawinskylaan and Beethovenstraat. In the final week, there will be some traffic disruption.

Work starts in preparation for A10 Zuid tunnel

On Saturday, 25 February, we will be removing a tree in Zuidplein, next to Eduard van Beinumstraat. This is necessary because we will be building the northern motorway tunnel here in the future. Before we can do that, we first need to ensure that the ground underneath is clear of obstacles.

17 and 18 December: noise disruption on metro platforms

During the weekend of 17 and 18 December, we will again be inserting box piles into the ground at Amsterdam Zuid station. A total of 20 box piles will be inserted next to the metro platforms. This may cause disruption as a result of vibration and noise.

Additional evening works in Beethovenstraat on 2 December

Between 19.00 and 01.00 on the evening of Friday, 2 December, we will be working on the corner of Strawinskylaan and Beethovenstraat. Resurfacing work was recently completed here, but an inspection has revealed that the asphalt was not properly applied. We will now rectify the problem.

Beethovenstraat to be closed for resurfacing work

Starting on Friday, 11 November, we will be closing Beethovenstraat in a southerly direction during three consecutive weekends. This is in order to enable resurfacing work as part of the relandscaping of the area around WTC Tower Ten.
