Between PI59, formerly home to the Amsterdam International Community School (AICS), and the law firm Freshfields, we have plans to create a pocket park. We are eager to do this in consultation with the local neighbourhood. Will you contribute your ideas?
All kinds of things are set to happen on the edge of Beatrixpark in the years ahead. They include the construction of around 300 homes. There are also tentative plans to house Ukrainian refugees in Kapel & Convict. We will brief you on all of that at the Sint Nicolaaslyceum school on 5 April 2023.
In April, we are continuing our work on the regeneration of Amsterdam Zuid station. We will be inserting sheet piles into the ground and pouring concrete for the fifth roof section of the additional passenger tunnel, the Brittenpassage.

The old Strawinskyhuis in Prinses Irenestraat is now virtually unrecognisable. At the heart of what was once a brutalist complex, there now lies a bright and airy atrium. The building is not yet fully complete: work on it is expected to last until the end of the year.
The cycle path in Beethovenstraat that runs along the front of the WTC has been open again since 17 March 2023, to the delight of many people. It had been closed for five years to enable the construction of Tower Ten, the newest WTC tower.
Between the De Nieuwe Meer and Amstel interchanges, the regenerated A10 Zuid will have numerous noise barriers, in a range of different lengths and heights and made from different materials. The choices made are being based on research involving advanced computer modelling.
The week of 13 March 2023 saw the removal and addition of oak, birch and Prunus trees in Amaliaplein. The high groundwater level has caused the death of eight trees which we are now in the process of replacing. All of the new trees will be planted on Friday, 17 March.
In the Thomaskerk church on 23 March, 2023, we will be presenting the draft Zuidflank Mobility Plan (‘Mobiliteitsplan Zuidflank’). A webinar will then follow on Monday, 27 March. In the plan, we explain how we intend to ensure that the area in and around Zuidas remains accessible and liveable up to 2040. Will you also be attending?
In the night of 15-16 March 2023, we will be removing two trees in Parnassusweg close to Claude Debussylaan for replanting elsewhere. The trees need to be moved in order to make way for the construction of a new office building on the so-called 'Boog' plot.
From 13 March until 5 May 2023, we will be completing the work on the public space around WTC Tower Ten. This will include adding an illuminated footpath between Strawinskylaan and Beethovenstraat. In the final week, there will be some traffic disruption.
